Peripheral Vision

We have some BIG and exciting news to share with you!

For years, we’ve known that Peripheral Vision PDX should be led by filmmakers of color and invest in mentoring a rising generation of creative talent. We are thrilled to announce that the Board of Directors has voted that this January, Lorenzo Lowe III will become Peripheral Vision PDX’s new Executive Director!

As a talented filmmaker of color and former Peripheral Vision PDX and Lion Speaks mentee, with years of experience as a mentoring program director at The Coalition of Black Men, Lorenzo is devoted to using his art to serve his community. “My passion in life, what really gets me up, is the ability to listen and to tell the stories of others,” says Lowe. “To bring their words to life in ways beyond auditory.”

Sebastian Rogers will remain on the Peripheral Vision PDX board - as well as becoming Creative Director for our long-time collaborators, Lion Speaks. We will also be welcoming Ime N. Etuk, filmmaker and founder of Lion Speaks, as the new chairperson of the PVPDX board. As a past mentor, he will continue to walk alongside Lorenzo during this transitional period.

We believe this new chapter in Peripheral Vision PDX’s story will be a time of renewal and of lifting up communities through compassionate and empowering storytelling. Please join us in welcoming Lorenzo and Ime to the Peripheral Vision PDX team!

Peripheral Vision PDX is honored to be included in the Indigenous Culture Collection sponsored by Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions, now available through Studios.

Inspired by the Indigenous Film & Culture Award, this collection aims to acquaint us with the Indigenous experience. These narratives and documentaries serve to teach us about history, resilience and the power of story.
