I went out chasing something rare that morning.
A comet. A clean sunrise. One of those shots you plan out in your head and hope everything lines up.
But the sky had other ideas.
Clouds rolled in fast. Fog started creeping across the water. And then the Nubble lit up blue for autism awareness… and everything changed.
No perfect horizon. No glowing sunrise. No comet.
Just a quiet moment… a different kind of light… and a reminder that sometimes the best images aren’t the ones you chase, they’re the ones that find you.
This wasn’t the shot I planned.
But it’s one I won’t forget.

One year ago tonight, the sky over Maine exploded with color. The northern lights danced over the rocks at Portland Head Light — bright enough to see with the naked eye, and impossible to forget.
This moment stopped time for a bit… now it’s one of my favorite captures from that night.
