Forgot that I have barely posted anything about this build!

Completely took apart this old houses post and beam basement to gain an extra 8 inches of head room and reframed the upstairs into an open concept floor plan. The way this house was originally framed made it pretty challenging to remove load bearing walls and the original bump outs lacked proper cantilevers but with a little creativity we got it done. Always enjoy a head scratcher!

Finished up this addition in north east Portland last week, on to the next one.

Even the smaller projects can have their tricky aspects, this old addition to the house we expanded had settled by over an inch creating issues with the partial vaulted ceiling detail. Thankfully we were able to correct it and in the process also hide the new carrying beam for the second floor
