Portland Fret Works

Just back from our friends over at Portland Fret Works! The vibiest 1949 Martin 0-18! Outfitted with vintage decals applied by the original owner. We purchased it from the family of the original owner. Judging by the state it was in, he must have taken this guitar with him everywhere he went! It’s been oversprayed and needed a patch in the side, neck reset, refret… the whole nine yards! Now it’s better than ever; it plays great and sounds amazing! Some days you’re the hammer, some days you’re the nail:
The top carving was going great until I carved into a concealed defect. No fixing this. I’m going to route the top off and start over with a new slab of figured maple.

Les Paul restoration continued: The damaged maple top became this pile of sawdust leaving a mahogany body waiting for this new curly maple top.

This used to be a Les Paul. Someday, it will be again.

‘64 Strat busted clean in half. It’s even got a wasp nest in the pickup cavity!

This ones comes with a story: the original owner smashed it to “prove he loves his family more than music.”
