We'll be offering another FREE virtual workshop for parents/friends/caregivers/loved ones of trans individuals on Wednesday, August 20, from 7-8:30pm Central. Please share the attached flyer! Thanks!
I'm pretty sure that letting children go hungry is not an appropriate response to allowing other children to play sports with their peers. I know there is controversy about the topic, but if you know any trans girls, you know that they are NOT a threat to cis girls (not any more than cis girls are), and they are also GIRLS. This statement from the Federal Department of Agriculture is grossly misleading. THIS IS NOT HAPPENING.
"In order to continue to receive taxpayer dollars from USDA, the state of Maine must demonstrate compliance with Title IX which protects female student athletes from having to compete with or against or having to appear unclothed before males."
Thank goodness for U.S. district court judge John Woodcock who issued a restraining order releasing funds so that these children can eat. For some of these children, the only food they can count on consistently is food provided by the schools. My hope is that this will be upheld long-term. The court found that "...withholding the money was unlawful and harmed schoolchildren."
When are we going to stop allowing this administration to break the law and harm people under the guise of protecting them? This is just the tip of the iceberg. I'm so frustrated.

Over 200 anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been introduced in the Texas legislature this season. If you want to support the people on the ground who are fighting for this community, I suggest giving to: Equality Texas https://equalitytexas.org/
TENT (Transgender Education Network of Texas) https://www.transtexas.org/
Campaign for Southern Equality (not just Texas) https://southernequality.org/
Or on a national level, the Human Rights Campaign: https://www.hrc.org/
Every dollar helps these people who basically have no life outside of advocacy during the Lege session. They live at the capital and are on the ground fighting furiously. They are my heroes!
Human Rights Campaign Since 1980, we’ve led the way in fighting for LGBTQ+ equality and inclusion.
It's been a while since I posted and I apologize for that. Like many of you, and many of my clients, I have felt overwhelmed and bereft at the attacks on a community very near and dear to my heart (among other things). Just know that I am working to support and fight for everyone who is being marginalized and threatened by the current political majority. And I applaud those with power and privilege who have continued to support those who are less powerful and less privileged. We will get through this.
The Trevor Project saw an increase in calls of 700% post-inauguration. This is a crisis line for LGBTQ+ youth. Kids call when they are in CRISIS, possibly suicidal. Just think about that.
