to our delightful winter cocktail class with Smith Teamaker last week. We made several cocktails, including the fan favorite - the Peppermint Port Sour. We thought we'd share the recipe here, so you can create some holiday magic of your own!
Peppermint Port Sour Cocktail
(Makes 1 cocktail)
3⁄4 oz. Peppermint Leaves tea reduction (see below)
R 3⁄4 oz. bourbon or rye whiskey
3⁄4 oz. tawny port
3⁄4 oz. lemon juice
Lemon peel
Directions: Combine all ingredients in a shaker tin with ice and shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Strain and serve over ice in a tumbler glass. Garnish with lemon peel.

Smith Tea Reduction:
(Make 1 cup of syrup)
6 sachets of Smith Peppermint Leaves Tea
16 oz. filtered water
1⁄2 cup sugar
1⁄2 oz. vodka*
Directions: Bring water to a boil and add tea sachets. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat, let steep for 5 minutes, discard sachets, add sugar and stir until dissolved. Let syrup rest and bring to room temperature. Optional: Add vodka. This lengthens shelf life. Bottle, date and refrigerate.

We love supporting innovative local distilleries and we use local spirits in our cocktails whenever possible. Freeland is a new local distillery, which is woman owned and operated. We’ve been using their gin for our cocktail classes - it’s SO good. (And how about that packaging?!)

Ben and Anna's wedding was one for the books.
Katy Weaver took the photos, Tournant catered the food, and we made the drinks! And the reception took place at a gorgeous residence overlooking the city.
It was such a memorable night, and we loved being a part of it. We cannot get over how beautifully it all came together.
