Tax season is approaching. New deductions regarding tips & overtime. Some tax credits regarding EV going away, and a more fair $40,000 limit on state & local taxes for married couples -- a change from the original 2017 law. If you're a Maine resident, I continue to remind everyone of the Property tax Fairness Credit that helps both renters and property tax payers. At certain income levels and/or family sizes, the refundable credit can be substantial !
Two days left until the April 15th deadline. Even if you owe and cannot pay, at least efile an extension! This automatically saves you a 25% penalty for not filing on April 16th!
As of now tax returns by appointment are done that day. Drop-offs are on automatic extension and most likely done late April.
