----Akira Kurosawa's Raygun---

Over his life, Ray has become a collector of relationships. He has befriended Kings and Queens, Heads of State and Dictators, actors artists and criminals as well as many every day people. Over the last 100 years Ray has favored making transporter devices as gifts for those people he found himself drawn to. These devices have the appearance of a “gun” but are essentially single-use transporters. The operator would point the device at a target and pulling the trigger, instantly transport the target to a location approximately 150 miles away and to the left.

The Ray-guns are designed specifically for each owner and are customarily gifted in a box with instructions to “please return after use along with a report of the discharge incident”. Ray has an industrial building in inner SE Portland where he stores hundreds of these spent transporters, each with a tag identifying the name of someone notable and sometimes obscure, at least to me anyway.

The Rayguns of Ray Horneaux

artist: Brian Elliot (excerpt from the origin story by Brian) One of the first concept shows I curated probably back in 2008. Brian gifted me Akira's raygun. It never had a case until last week when Brian showed up on my porch with it.
Now the story is complete.

The Mexican forest fire story..... Mexicans rule! Been working there for over 3 years now so these stories are not surprising or rare... The photo below is of Mexican firefighters (bomberos) arriving in Oregon from Mexico to battle our forest fires... The link is a story about the fires and the aftermath.
It features this quote from a Mexican immigrant...

"Artemio Guterrez stood helplessly next to his pickup, surveying the rubble of his mobile home. His children sat quietly in the truck bed and waited for him to salvage what he could. He found a ceramic pot with a smiley face on it, some charred miniature houses from a Christmas-themed village and a cross that formed when two pieces of glass melted together.

Guterrez, a single father of four, had been at work at a vineyard nearby when he saw thick smoke spreading through Rogue River Valley. He raced home just in time to sn**ch his kids from the trailer park where they live alongside dozens of other Mexican families. They got out with only the clothes they were wearing.

“I’m going to start all over again. It’s not easy but it’s not impossible either. You have to be a little tough in situations like this,” said Guterrez, who had just returned from his mother’s funeral in Mexico."

It's difficult to find consistent venues for art. It's hard work.. takes dedication.. I have been to multiple shows at Gama... and would like to go there again after this virus bu****it.. give them a helping hand if you can.

Repost from "Hazlo Real" (Make it real) is the result of an effort made by our team to avoid disappearing due to the quarantine measures that took place after the COVID19 outbreak, it is a calling to our entire community to be part of the history of GAMA Crea and all its side projects.

It's time to come together and collaborate not only for the future of this project, but for the development of cultural alternatives in Mexico City; Help us to continue working with artists, independent brands, galleries and other cultural events.

You can find the link to our Kickstarter campaign in our bio, we only have 16 more days to reach our goal. Make it real.

We could all use a little good news from our government.... Repost from 🏳️‍🌈The Supreme Court ruled today that a landmark civil rights law protects gay and transgender workers from workplace discrimination, a victory for L.G.B.T.Q equality. HAPPY PRIDE, y’all 🏳️‍🌈
