Rocket Academy

Dear Rocket Academy Friends,

It is with great regret that I share the news that Rocket Academy will no longer be offered at Rock Creek Elementary. However, this award winning program will not be stopped. I plan on working on different options, to build this program and find a location, that represents my high ideals, but will continue to need your support and participation. While we will not be able to offer a session this year, I hope to find a way to offer this enrichment program to all elementary school aged children next year.

Rocket Academy, is only three years old, but has been in the news several times, won the Community Partnership Award from the Beaverton School District in 2015, and was nominated the WE Celebration & Awards as one of the exemplars of the four Pillars of Learning in 2014. We still have much to accomplish. Our goal is to continue to enrich the lives of children by giving them a joy of learning.

Thank you again for your support. I would love some input or feedback. Stay tuned for more news.

Rocket Academy is a proud winner of this year’s Community Partnership Award from the Beaverton School District.

The Award was presented to the Rocket Academy team at the District’s 2nd Annual WE Celebration & Recognition Awards Ceremony held on May 7, 2015.

This year’s Rocket Academy was held on Friday, April 24 and focused on Environmental Awareness and Responsibility.

Pooping dragon, earthworms fill day off at Rock Creek Elementary While students across the district had a day off from school, 97 kids in grades K-5 chose to spend the day at Rocket Academy, learning environmental science with the help of 38 Westview High volunteers.

Environmental Education and Awareness

Thank you to our wonderful "cadets" who attended Rocket Academy today. They were all involved in what they were learning and went home with either a mini biosphere, a marble run created with recycled materials, or a recycled city.

We want to thank our partners, Westview's Science NHS, who came up with, and presented the lessons. We would also like to thank our other student volunteers from Westview's, NHS and Key Clubs. Finally, thanks to our tireless parent volunteers!!

Rocket Academy continues to be a success because of the collaboration of our community - parents, high school volunteers, neighboring businesses, and most importantly our Rock Creek students. Thank you!

Launching in 3 days!!

Rocket Academy is launching in 4 days!

A quick reminder: Rocket Academy is this Friday, April 24th. We hope to have fun as we learn about the environment and our role in it. The session starts at 8:30 am sharp, so we encourage early check in. Check in opens at 8:15 am. Also, every child will need to bring a snack and water bottle.

We are all looking forward to Friday!

The Endeavor Crew members (4th and 5th graders) will be creating their own Biospheres at Rocket Academy! To do so, they need earthworms. Do you have any to donate? We need 30-60!
