🐝 Two States Said No to Bee-Killing Pesticides. Yours Can Too.

In 2023, New York made history by passing the Birds and Bees Protection Act, banning neonicotinoid coatings on corn, soybean, and wheat seeds. Vermont followed in 2024 with a similar law. These two states proved that meaningful action against bee-killing pesticides is possible, even while the federal government looks the other way. Their victories are now a model for the rest of the country.

The need is urgent. A single neonic-coated seed carries enough toxin to kill 250,000 bees, yet these treated seeds are completely exempt from EPA regulation. Last season, beekeepers lost over 55% of their hives, the worst on record. Meanwhile, over 95% of pregnant women carry neonics in their bodies. The pesticide grows into the plant and can’t be washed off our food or filtered from our drinking water.

New York and Vermont showed us the path forward. Now it’s your state’s turn. Contact your state legislators today and tell them to follow New York and Vermont’s lead. If two states can stand up to Bayer and protect pollinators, children, and our food supply, so can yours.

Thank you Vermont!

Another Silent Spring brought to us by Large Agri-Business. Vermont has outlawed these poison pills; How about your State?!?

This Valentine’s day protect your family and loved ones by taking action to regulate pesticides on flowers.

Unlike food, flowers are not regulated for pesticide residues. There is no legal limit on the amount of pesticides that can remain on a bouquet, and it is common to find banned chemicals on flowers.

TAKE ACTION: Tell Congress to Start Regulating the “Toxic Bomb” of Pesticides on Flowers! https://orgcns.org/4rn62e8

WRITTEN TESTIMONY DEADLINE FOR HB 4153 HAS BEEN EXTENDED to 2/11/26 at 1pm! Due to robust interest in this bill, another public hearing has been scheduled for Monday at 1pm (2/9/26) so the new deadline to provide written testimony to oppose HB 4153 is Wednesday at 1pm (48 hours after the scheduled hearing)!

HB 4153 makes farm stores easier and more permissive for large property owners while penalizing small land holders for having less to work with. Even if you support the 100 acre farmer example below, should it come at the expense of the 10 acre farmer example?

Friends of Family Farmers is opposed to HB 4153 because it limits who is allowed to have a farm store for their operation and makes no specific protections for the simplest form of farm stands currently in operation.

Although many folks in the FoFF community are excited at the prospect of having more freedom to host events at their farmstands, FoFF cannot support a bill that would take away opportunities from small and beginning farmers.

You have the chance to raise your voice and demand a more fair solution.

We believe that the connection between a farm and the public that can be forged through on-farm experiences is important to strengthening our food system and uplifting our rural communities. But this bill is NOT the solution. SUBMIT WRITTEN TESTIMONY to OPPOSE this bill and make your voice heard!

Organic Regenerative Agriculture is both beautiful and critically important in the biosequestration of carbon!

This is what regenerative farming can look like. This is a picture of the Eden Project in Cornwall, England. Unlike conventional monoculture planting, this polyculture system diversifies the soil life, making plants less susceptible to pests and disease. (Photo by Franie Treetops @ Flickr).

Regenerative farming applies the Buddhist wisdom of pratītyasamutpāda (dependent origination) and inter-being to agriculture. One could also describe this as aligning with the ecological wisdom of Nature, what some African cultures call "ubuntu" - the Indigenous wisdom that all LIFE is interdependently related as a whole, and thrives best as One family -🙏💕
