How Do I Get It?!
In many cases, insurance (including Medicare and Medicaid) may cover genomic sequencing if it’s recommended by your doctor. To get it, talk to your oncologist (see our battle card below for tips) and ask if testing your tumor’s DNA could help guide your treatment—your care team can help order the test and check your insurance coverage.

This week we recognize Men’s Breast Cancer Awareness Week — a time to talk openly, share stories, and remind the world that breast cancer affects men too. Awareness leads to early detection, and early detection saves lives.

👨🏾‍🤝‍👨🏻Here are a few things men should watch for:

- Lumps in the breast tissue
- Changes in the ni**le
- Unusual swelling or pain

Risk factors include a family history of breast cancer, BRCA2 gene mutations, and higher estrogen levels.

If you have concerns about your risk, talk to your primary care provider. Awareness and early action save lives.

Is This For Me?!
Genomic sequencing and biomarker testing can help guide treatment for many types of cancer, including lung, breast, colon, prostate, ovarian, and melanoma. These tests look for changes in your tumor’s DNA that may point to targeted therapies or clinical trials that are more likely to work for your specific cancer.

🧬 Precision Medicine = Personalized Care
Instead of giving every patient the same treatment, doctors now look at your genes, environment, and lifestyle to find what works best for you.

Think of it like shoes — one size doesn’t fit all. Precision medicine finds your perfect fit 👟

For cancer patients, that means testing the tumor’s DNA (genomic sequencing or biomarker testing) to match targeted treatments designed just for those unique changes.

Both look at your DNA, but they do it for different reasons and in different ways.

Genetic Testing

• Focuses on a few specific genes
• It’s usually used to check for inherited risks, like BRCA1/BRCA2 for breast cancer
• Help answer: “Did I inherit a gene that increases my risk for this disease?”
• Common for people with strong family histories of certain conditions

Genomic Sequencing

• Looks at a large number of genes or even your entire genome
• Often used to understand diseases like cancer after they appear
• Help answer: “What’s going on inside the tumor or disease right now?”
• Used to find mutations in cancer cells that may be targeted with specific treatments

In Short:

• Genetic testing is about what you’re born with
• Genomic sequencing is about what’s happening in the disease itself

🧬Both give powerful information, one helps prevent and the other helps treat more precisely.

You know someone fighting cancer?
Their world might feel like it’s spinning…

But genomic sequencing can help slow it down —
because no two cancers are the same, and everyone’s DNA tells a different story.

📣 Do it! 📣 Tell them about genomic sequencing. 🧬Knowledge is power. Learn more about genomic sequencing on our website. Link in bio.

💚 October is Liver Cancer Awareness Month.
Early detection and genomic sequencing can help fight cancer differently — know the signs, get checked, and spread the word. 🧬✨
