A good friend shared a podcast interview with Jonathan Van Ness in which he shared that he practices the ability to feel despair at some things while feeling joy in others simultaneously. Neither takes away from the other. We are capable of both: & 🌷

Shazam. Spring! Please bring me all the plant textures & colors. It’s an antidote to my feelings on the world right now.

Mama has a little time to garden.

Went out to today because I was enamored with a Pacific Coast Iris posted yesterday. Found it (Bronze Baby) and a few other things. And there was (as always) much beauty in the entry/parking garden. The sound of the bumbles was tremendous.

Being pretty pregnant changes my relationship to the garden - all the stuff that requires you to bend over or squat down is mostly out. That leaves surprisingly little πŸ˜‚ besides putting up my swollen feet and enjoying the view.

Member Garden Tour: Kathleen of Old Hurlburt School Gardens 04/29/2021

HPSO member, Hayden Brown (on IG at https://www.instagram.com/theperennial.victorian/) has been doing a series of wonderful blog posts on her visits to area gardens to feature some of the amazing HPSO member gardens that are open by appointment during the pandemic. Ordinarily, HPSO's Open Gardens program has members visiting each other's gardens en masse on designated days, but obviously we've had to change gears! Here's her most recent post on a wonderful garden out in the Gorge surrounding an old schoolhouse turned home.

If you're interested in visiting area gardens by appointment, become a HPSO member (https://www.hardyplantsociety.org/) and gain access to our virtual directory of dozens of gardens you can see throughout the year.

Member Garden Tour: Kathleen of Old Hurlburt School Gardens This is a garden that feels grand and mature, yet homey and welcoming at the same time. When I visited in April, the garden was coming to life with thousands of spring blooms.
