Peter Yarrow Memorial Celebration 10/10/2025

The memorial service for Peter Yarrow was held in NYC last evening. Dozens of people, many of them prominent (Tom Paxton, John Kerry, Noel Paul Stookey--of course, Tom Chapin, etc.) shared their memories and sang songs, ending with a rousing songfest of "Puff the Magic Dragon."
The service is on YouTube. Here's Joan Baez' tribute:

The First Lady of Children's Music has passed on. What a legacy she leaves behind!

Sympathies to the family of
Ella Jenkins and everyone at Smithsonian Folkways Recordings who keeps her work alive for each new generation.

Here she is (in NYC I think) with Pete Seeger. (If you haven't heard it, Pete's "Children's Concert at Town Hall" is a classic.)

Next month, everyone in the children's music world will celebrate the 100th birthday of Ella Jenkins. Are you a subscriber to SiriusXM? Do you enjoy hearing the DJs on SiriusXM Kids Place Live?
Kenny Curtis and Jack Forman from Kids Place Live were laid off this week. Other cutbacks to the channel (which has supported many indie artists over the past decades) may happen soon.

Artists and listeners can make a stink by contacting the programming dept. at SiriusXM Satellite Radio to voice your disapproval of these changes.
I'll share Joanie Leeds' post with more information in comments.

Please take a moment and email the President & CEO + call customer service. You can make a difference.

I'm sad to report the passing of Paul Lacques, an amazing musician with the LA based band Earthworm Ensemble. He was known and beloved by many, including fans of the wonderful I SEE HAWKS IN L.A. All thoughts are with Victoria, Shawn Nourse, Sherri Nourse, and every one of his friends and family.

He's the energetic artist on the far left of this band pic.
