We've been dancing and singing far longer than we've been speaking.
Coming from South Africa, born and raised in the Zululand, the cradle of Humankind, I have grown up around beautiful people who are viscerally connected with their spiritual essence. The Zulu people sing and dance in joy, celebration, anger and at funerals, they sing and dance even harder in their grief!
Singing and dancing, stomping the earth, connecting with their ancestral roots, is simply a way of life.

It brings me great joy to share my music with dancers. In my travels to Asia, South America, Europe and Australia, I have had the privilege of sitting with elders in various lineages, and learning from their stories and their beliefs.
They have said, "go, go and teach your people. Go, go, and help your people."
For a long time, I didn't know how I could do that, and felt unworthy of sharing the wisdom, but a wise and ancient part of me has always felt moved by the spirit of dance and song.
And that ancient wisdom is also in you!
Out of pure love for dance, song and cacao, I started creating cacao dance ceremonies. The first Snake Dance was in May 2022, an it was transformative experience for both me and those that attended.
One dancer shared:
"It was life-changing. I was able to see where I was holding myself back, and make the decision there and then to peel off that old skin. I loved the directions they gave us to open into the "stuck" parts of my body, move like a snake. It was a somatic, embodied expression of letting go, and that was the release I never knew I needed. I came home and made the decision to leave a very abusive relationship, along with shedding other bad habits that had been plaguing me".
Another shared:
"I've never moved my body like that before. It was amazing and a whole new experience for me! I let go of a lot that I was holding onto. It was amazing."

Gabe Neumann and I are so excited to be colaborating on Snake Dance 2024 on May 4th, as part of the Emergence: Springtime Dance Celebration!!!!

We're weaving together a journey with carefully-selected Sanskrit mantras and medicine songs (icaros) set over a variety of organic beat forms and rhythms that deepen your connection with the Unbroken wisdom in your soul, and unlock pathways of expression and creativity.
We're super excited to be doing this together for the very first time, and super duper excited to be performing alongside other talented artists and facilitators, including Andrea Thompson who has co-facilitated this with me in the past!
Thank you Hartspace and Lost Valley, Paul Deering and Amelia Dissay for curating this amazing event so we can bring Snake Dance to more people!

I'm so honored and excited to be pouring cacao ALL NIGHT at the BassWitch 6.0 event this Friday!

The Sacred Waters team and I will be hosting a cacao ceremony for the event for the first 40 people in the door. During the ceremony, we will connect deeply with this ancient Peruvian cacao bean, Indian Rose, Lion's Mane mushroom and Cardamom plant allies, and explore how they can help us heal the pain from heartaches of all kinds.
