The project has taken a back seat as some things in my personal life have taken front and center over the last couple months, but in these final weeks before Christmas, consider supporting a good cause and getting someone you love something beautiful in the meantime. Here are just some of my favorites.

Featured item of the day is this beautiful crystal chakra balancing bracelet, for sale on our website for $25. The crystals were specially selected for their healing properties, and whether you believe in crystals or not, the placebo affect has been shown to work whether you know it’s a placebo or not, suggesting that even the intention of healing is a powerful medicine. This is what I call the "why" of us.

So excited to announce the launch of our first fund raising campaign. Our goal is to raise 10,000 to help us incorporate as an official non-profit organization, restock our supplies, and raise money for another non-profit, A Village for One.

A Village for One offers low-barrier community mental health services and case management to youth at risk of commercial s*x trafficking or exploitation. They also operate a residential facility for youth in DHS care. What impresses me most is their understanding that healing can't begin while trauma persists, so their first step in therapy is harm reduction and meeting basic human needs. I've seen remarkable transformations and changed life trajectories at A Village for One, and am hopeful to be able to contribute to this wonderful program. We are getting geared up for our first fundraising event! How is it nearly half-way through August already!!! As we prepare, I am on the lookout for folks that want to volunteer their time and skills to help promote a good cause. There are so many ways to help! It’s official, well maybe. The spark of an idea is finally taking shape into a reality. But if it is to grow into something real and eventually become the jumping of place/platform for the family centered addiction treatment center I hope to someday establish, it will need the support of others, and for that, I need a board of trustees. So if you have time, knowledge, skills, and interest in helping this young social worker develop a fundraising focused non-profit committed to helping organizations and individuals reduce the barriers to treatment for women, children, and families, especially in underserved populations, please reach out.
