It’s still Black Maternal Health Week!
👏🏿 Let’s 👏🏾Talk 👏🏽About 👏🏿Tracey

Some may know her as MS. Tracey — the talented, the one and only! She leads our team at the and she has been a well known and respected doula in the community for more than TEN years.

One of her most recent births - she used spinning babies to help one of our moms have a successful VBAC after 5 C-sections! That’s the magic of Ms. Tracey!

She been an important role in helping us building a Mother Baby Project in Wisconsin as well and we consider ourselves lucky to have found our way to each other.

Thank you Tracey for doing this work alongside us!

It’s Black Maternal Health Week! Let’s 👏🏽 Talk 👏🏾 about 👏🏿 Alicia 👏🏽 Roach 👏🏿

Where do we even start?
Alicia is a fierce and strong and incredible advocate and doula who leads our Team in Oregon. And a Portland native!

She gave birth while incarcerated in 2009 (see her story in our reels!) and then put her heart and soul into make sure Oregon passed HB2535 — the Oregon AntiShackling Doula Bill to prevent other women from being treated inhumanely while in jail or prison.

She is an incredible mama to 6 gorgeous boys and works everyday to make sure everyone’s birth story is full of beauty and dignity.

We love you Alicia!!! .26

🙌🏿 It’s Black Maternal Health Week: this is a week to take a moment to acknowledge the deep history of Black Midwifery in the US as well as the strength and resilience of our Black Mamas.

Many of our program directors at Ostara are incredible models of Black Female leadership.

People are giving birth in prison every day.
Our work makes sure they don’t have to do it alone because how we welcome babies into the world matters, and dignity at birth can interrupt cycles of trauma.

On MLK Day, we honor the work of justice by showing up for pregnant and postpartum people impacted by incarceration.

Our team continues to provide care, advocacy, and connection, even in the hardest moments. Your support makes this vital work possible. 💛

Regardless of where you give birth, you deserve to be held and seen and supported during this extremely intimate and vulnerable moment.

It’s that simple.
