We pause in our celebrations of the Boston runners to remember George Towle, who passed away last night.

George was a longtime MTC member, race director for the (Maine Running Hall of Fame inducted) Thanksgiving 4 Miler, coach at USM, and friend to many. His kindness, straightforwardness, and willingness to meet at GLB will always be remembered. He hid from photos, but we managed this one from November 2025. Please, share any photos you have of George below. We'll share details of services as soon as we know them.

Maine was well represented at the 2026 Road Runners Club of America conference, with MTC president, Cadence Atchinson, Maine Marathon race director, Bob Dunfey, and RRCA Maine state rep, Chandra Leister (who also spoke at the event). They are ready to share what they learned at upcoming MTC events!

URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT for MTC MEMBERS: If you want to run Mt. Washington Road Race (and can commit to actually signing up today) - but didn't get in, comment below below by NOON and email [email protected] by NOON today with your phone number, so we can call you if you are a winner!! We'll pick lucky winners to receive the bibs, and then you'll need to register (+ pay). You do not need to provide a volunteer this year. DID I MENTION NOON yet? :)

Distance runner Jess McClain led off course in bizarre finish at U.S. Half Marathon Championships (Gift Article) McClain lost the opportunity for her first national championship and an automatic qualification spot for the 2026 World Championships.

Congratulations to everyone who ran the first race of the Grand Prix Series, the Cape Elizabeth Mid-Winter 10 Mile Classic today! Don't forget our next race is Maine Track Club Longfellow 3K - March 29, 2026 :)
