We remove barriers to access and help diverse youth find their voice in activism and community engagement through travel, arts and nature-based projects Wonderfolk is a program to give motivated high school students from low-income backgrounds the chance to participate in our Student Fellowship program, composed of three parts: 1) a 4 month mentor program that prepares our students for 2) a three week service-learning, cultural immersion program in Panama, followed by 3) a "Bring it Home" service project, where our students take all the leadership and community engagement skills they've learned and implement them in a service project of their own, in their community at home. We do this all free of charge for our students, as we are trying to take money out of the equation as a limiting factor to formative mentor, travel and service opportunities.

Our 2026 first-year cohort has officially finished their mural!
This piece reflects our students’ lived experiences, their connection to one another, nature, the land, and the history of the place and community they’re a part of. Created together through conversation, collaboration, and creativity, the mural is a reflection of the community they’ve built along the way.
A huge thank you to salomée for guiding our students through the process and helping bring their vision to life.

A day at Vibrant Valley Farm with Color Outside the Lines 🌿🎨
Our youth spent the day exploring the farm, learning about sustainable flower growing, and getting creative with plants. They picked flowers to make natural dyes, learned how indigo is turned into dye, and used it to tie-dye T-shirts and fabric.
The day also included watercolor painting, making botanical aromatherapy sprays, and learning about how plants have been used for healing and wellness across different cultures.
Lots of hands-on learning, creativity, and getting a little messy along the way!

After a day of traveling, our Wonderfolk crew has officially arrived! New sights, new sounds, new flavors, and plenty of excitement as we settle into what will be an unforgettable trip.
This is just the beginning. Over the next several days, our students will explore, connect, and step outside their comfort zones while experiencing Costa Rica firsthand. We can’t wait to share the moments, memories, and stories that unfold along the way.
