Many of us know how bad traffic can get in the Portland suburbs.

Southwest 185th Avenue near Baseline Road in Hillsboro is one of the most congested areas west of Portland.

Imagine also being stuck waiting for a train to pass by. That happens More than 100 times every weekday.

The city of Hillsboro, TriMet and Washington County want to build a bridge for the MAX train tracks, but Hillsboro’s transportation systems planner, Gregg Snyder, says funding is nearly impossible right now.

The city is now focusing on a temporary solution called Smart 185, an AI-powered upgrade to the traffic signal system, but getting funding for that has also been a road block.
