Some really bike-friendly folks at the Inn At Lynden! And a classy place, with Jim's seal of approval (or is it a sea lion? Well, a pinniped of some sort at least). Some nice pics and more at their website.

Related but separate: "Pop quiz hotshot" (reference anyone?) - Lynden is right on the Washington tour route for Friday, July 17. Any guesses what else is happening that day? Bonus points (double the usual) for getting the percentage of USA frozen inventory that comes from this area. Let the games begin - may the odds be ever in your favor.

New ride event! Get your gravel on in Halfway Oregon! Check out their website (listed on flyer) for the other Fourth of July events going on - some fun stuff! Like duck races! I didn't know they could even ride bicycles!

Hey, if you’re coming to Bike Camp, or just heading to Walla Walla anytime, we’ve discovered a luxurious place to stay, owned by some serious cyclists. The GG Mansion will even offer a discount for BRNW cyclists (subject to the usual details... but worth a try!)

If you hadn't heard, a landslide wiped out Highway 229 near Siletz. Jim was in the area scouting re-routes this weekend. We'll be staying in Lincoln City now, and means we get to ride Otter Crest Loop, a real highlight of the coast. All these pics are from the loop... it was 63 degrees and tons of people were surfing!

Bike Camp Walla Walla registration opens tonight at 6 pm PST! It is a new ride experience for seasoned BRNW riders and new-to-the-family riders and guests alike. Details on the ride and a link to BikeReg are on www.BRNW.org. And a short video of the route and experience!

After you register, head over to www.BRNWRetail.org (store opens at 6 tonight also) for jerseys, t-shirts, meal options, on-campus lodging options (dorm rooms, tents, or in 2 tipis - courtesy of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation - a truly unique opportunity available for up to 4 in a tipi!)

With a "home base" for the week, there are options for non-riders at Bike Camp Walla Walla during the day. More details to come on those as lots of folks are working hard to put together quite a range of activities and educational experiences. What fun!

If you also have a hankering for one of BRNW's fully supported week-long tours from town to town, there are spots available for Oregon (6/20 to 6/27) and Washington (7/11 to 7/18). Same website as above for all the information and registration link and same retail site (now open for OR and WA merch and options).

Behind the scenes at BRNW HQ has been like elves on extra sugar rations to get everything ready for "opening day". At least, I think that is what they are using. Not the BRNW folks - the elves. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

But all the hard work is coming together and the brnw dot org site has the 2026 season information ready, complete with three (!!!) preview videos of the 2026 rides and a nice reel of the Utah 2025 tour.

Jim has BikeReg configured for the opening bell(s) and the retail setup on BRNW is viewable so you can see the Jerseys and T's and all the other "sides" to go with the main course rides. Tab in the menu to see the Retail page.

If you don't get the emails and are wondering what this is all about - it is all on the brnw site. Read fast and be ready for the registration rush, though. It can be raucous like a raccoon rampaging on restricted refreshments. Right on!

Most of the BRNW tours are in spring and summer, so it is easy to miss the fall colors that light up some of the routes when scouting or doing pre-rides. The recent Utah Small Group Tour was at the height of fall colors and I really liked this shot from Burk. And speaking of Burk and Utah... his latest video from that tour is now up on the BRNW Vimeo channel - https://vimeo.com/1137050416

Enjoy!

Caption contest! This is Jim at a Dia de los Mu***os (aka Day of the Dead) celebration. No clues about what he "represents" so as not to skew the possible captions, until later.

And, go!
