Spotted this reminder on my walk back from yoga. Love is a verb. Offer love, express love, be love. Lord knows we need it π
Saw this sweet reminder on my walk this afternoon. "Many chapters close and I wave to them "bye-bye" Openings thrill me." So often, we forget that things are transient...temporary. Doors open and close. Chapters begin and end. May we lean into change and offer ourselves compassion as we transition. π

Today is just another day for so many and yet, it carries the weight of our nation. The weight of injustice. We are a nation that prides itself on liberty and justice. Who exactly is that liberty and justice for? Philando Castile deserves to be alive today. Philando Castile was in compliance. He did nothing wrong and yet, where is the justice for him? For his life? For his family? If police officers believe their life is in danger, that's it. They are protected by the law. The problem is that we don't account for implicit bias. We don't account for behavior or actions taken as a result of institutional racism. Philando worked at a public school just as I do. That doesn't even matter but I honor him and hold him in my heart as a fellow youth-serving professional. He had been pulled over 52 times for minor traffic violations prior to this incident. Can we not see the issue here? My heart hurts for Philando's family and for this country. When will we wake up and take a stand? When will we see that racism permeates every aspect of our lives. The system is not broken. It is working exactly how it was set up to work. The only way forward is to admit the harm we have caused and continue to cause. This system is not just.
Black. Lives. Matter.
To my white folks: If you don't see this as an injustice, let's connect. I'd love to hear your perspective and I hope you will be open to hearing mine.
Rest easy, Philando. May you know peace. πππΌ

Had quite the journey to my students graduation last night! Ended up having a lovely cab driver who booted me out about a half mile from the colliseum, encouraging me to run in order to make it! Traffic was terrible! I ended up making it, getting my robe, and walking out with the other teachers. What an incredible experience β€οΈοΈSo deeply appreciated being there, congratulating my students and sending them off with love! I texted my cab driver to thank her for her encouragement and she responded with this text! The student was on her way to see her older sister graduate. So much love!

Love this visual! Great reminder. By bringing awareness to our thoughts, we can see the stories we're telling ourselves. So often we think, "I'll be happy when..." or "if this happens, then I'll be happy." Letting go of the "I" frees us up to experience the moment. What story are you believing? π«π

Look beneath the behavior that is presented. Connect with the light below the surface. Remember that we are all stars wrapped in skin. Offer your light to others and help them remember who they are so that they too can offer light. Our actions speak volumes. What good is a bright light in an empty room? β¨
