Friends Share Community Space

★ October Events ★

Fall is upon us! And we’re getting ready for spooky season…are you excited? This month is busy with a ton of fun events, in and out of our space! Portland Photo Night is hosting an OPB night to showcase local photojournalists with us, we’re hosting a sweet singer / songwriter night to share some love, a crowd favorite catan cafe is back, Juno Vi will be sharing her witchy knowledge with us at two separate 101 classes that you should not miss. We’ll be celebrating our 2nd birthday the best way we know how, good food and karaoke! Then we’ll pop over at Keeper Coffee Co for a Halloween latte art throwdown before a frightening October finale with our friends Bangkok Belly partying the night away on Belmont Street!

As always, we have a month full of club meetings! See something you’re curious about? Come join us to learn something new and meet new friends! All clubs are completely free to join.

See you soon, friends!

★ Cà Phê and Cards ★

Do you have a deck you’ve been itching to build, cards you’re looking to trade, or games you’ve been hoping to play?

Come spend some intentional time with us this Sunday at our cafe from 10am to 2pm to do all of the above.

Whether you play Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, or another TCG, bring your binders and deck boxes to build, trade, and play.

And if TCGs aren’t your thing, no worries, we’ll still have you covered with coffee, banh mi & tea!

★ Friends Share the Harvest ★

Join us for our first Soup Social of the season!
This will be a super special one as we’ll be joined by members of Rainbow Bloc, Be Loved Bloc, Common Fire, and Radical Abundance Thrift Shop + Non-Profit.

Come connect with local groups, learn more about mutual aid initiatives, share a bowl of soup, and find ways to get involved in our community. There will be opportunities to learn more about the work these groups are doing, but mostly, this is a casual space to gather, hang out, ask questions, and connect.

We also want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has donated so far to Be Loved Bloc. If you’re able to contribute, any bit helps and goes toward supporting families impacted by ICE.

We’ll see you this Saturday over a bowl of soup!

★ Friday Night Magic! ★

It’s time for FNM (Casual Commander edition)! Join us this week as we gather over some MTG.

Bring your singles. Jeremy Hoover is back and will be running their MTG pop-up where you can purchase and/or trade to get those cards that you ve been looking for!

Bring your pod or hop into a new one! All skill levels are welcome, whether you’re a seasoned planeswalker or brand new to the game. We’re here to connect, play, and have fun.

Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase! As always, we’ll be raffling boosters and other MTG goodies throughout the night (you’ll receive one ticket for every $3 spent).

See you soon, friends!

★ Mid-Autumn Festival Dance Party! ★

Aaaand we’re BACK again at Sun Rice this Saturday, September 26th to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with all our great friends! There will be family-friendly events from 4–8pm with Annam VL and HeyDay | Bánh Shop Portland, Oregon. They will be serving up an incredible menu with amazing food specials based off Oregon’s harvest and hosting a traditional neighborhood lantern walk.

Then, the Friends Share crew will be lighting up the dance floor with GABO and franco behind the decks! The party starts from 8pm to LATE so come through and celebrate the best way we know how, together!

Traditionally, mid-autumn is a time to pause and appreciate the harvest after months of hard work in the fields. We’re grateful to always bring people together and experience the abundance that comes with being in community. After a busy and fulfilling summer season, it’s time to enjoy this transition into the year ahead.

We can’t wait to see you all there!

★ Open Decks ★

We’re opening the decks this Sunday at Ca Phê from 10am to 2pm. Come enjoy the vibes!

Sign up in person to spin a casual 15 minute vinyl set, open to all skill levels. Whether you’re an experienced DJ or just curious, we want you to get familiar with the gear.

Bren will be on hand to answer questions and offer tips. As always, we’re here to learn from one another, build community, and share the love of music.

*We love to trade! Note, this is not a vinyl swap meet, and there will be no vendors*

If you’ve got records that haven’t been spun in a while, bring them along to trade with your peers, or add and take from the community crate.

Come hang out over coffee, bánh mì, vinyl, and great conversation!

★ Photography Club! ★

Whether you’re an expert photographer or new to the world of film or digital media, Friends Share Photography is the club for you! We’re welcoming photographers of all skill levels and all kinds (film, digital, even your smart phone) to come join us in a monthly exploration of new prompts, educational workshops, tips, tricks, and most importantly, community.

Last month our club members were given the prompt: Collaborate! Our club members partnered up and decided on a theme together to work with.

We’ve had a month to explore our interpretations of that prompt, and everyone will be sharing their work with the group this Thursday, September 24th! If you’re new and will be joining us, we will debrief themes and questions from our last meeting, discuss everyone’s work from this past month, and get into the next prompt!

We emphasize accessibility and encourage any and all questions. This is a space for us to all learn from each other, and we are so excited to see what we can all create together. So bring whatever camera you’d like to work with—we’re so excited to see you on Thursday!
