Consider this your sign to question the bill.
I mention that you can negotiate medical bills on this channel a lot and people don’t seem to believe me. I’ll get comments or DMs from folks that don’t think it works so I decided to show it live.
Can you do this with every single medical bill no matter what?! NO. But this has worked for me more often than not.
I’ve done this with hospital bills, labs, imaging… bills in collections… bills not in collections.
Try it out. Sometimes I even wait for the bill to be sent to collections because collection agencies tend to be more open about it.
This has saved me thousands of dollars. “What is the settlement amount?”
This video is a bit of a ramble but I was so frustrated after this call! Financial assistance programs should be easy to find and easy to apply. We already know a lot of hospitals create unnecessary hoops to get financial assistance BUT when the person answering the phone is rude and unhelpful and trying to make me feel like an idiot for asking… WHAT ARE WE EVEN DOING!? Sorry to all the patients that have to go through this. We are trying our best to make it better.

Having insurance doesn’t automatically mean you’re out of options.

A hospital bill doesn’t have to be thousands of dollars to hurt. The amount isn’t the point—the pressure it puts on your life is. Know what your options are before you pay.
