1st Tenon Cut in way to long! Feeling super out of shape, but reminding myself that any progress is progress forward, and letting myself enjoy the small wins/learning curves all add up overtime. Happy to take it slow and learn better methods and techniques with this weekend.
Will post final joint when it’s together (Mortise + Tenon w/ Pin). Also, time to go shopping and add some much needed tools back to my kit.

Had a great time this weekend getting to connect with the meet-up group! Beyond grateful to have discovered such a welcoming, generous, and knowledgeable community for connecting over Japanese woodworking and hand tools.
Got so involved working and talking I forgot to snap pictures, but got this one - midway through the process of setting up my Japanese hand plane (Kanna), which hasn’t had a tuneup in 4+ years. Next goals are to finish the hand plane setup and see if I can get started on my chisels….more to come 🙌

Sharing some old progress pictures from last summer, this is about 90% finished for a small wall-hanging cabinet/cubby I made. Now it’s been living in my home for about a month or two, after a short life existing in my studio and several shows during Thesis year at school.
Poplar with walnut inlays, all wood salvaged from a previous project. This piece was the starting point that led to more inspired, small cabinet-like pieces, ideal for trinket storing, bottles, and other small treasures + my creative experimentation. Stay tuned for more ✌️ 🪵

A few studio pictures just a few days before my Thesis install….
My final graduating speech and show are over for now, but you can still catch another installation of my work in PNCA’s Thesis Group Show opening this Thursday, May 2nd.
Congrats to all my graduating peers on all the time spent working towards Thesis, and the PNCA Faculty/Community who supported the ‘24 class all the way through 👏 👏 ✨
