A couple of weeks ago @matahidrollet warned everyone about @paris2024 olympics' plan to destroy Teahupoo's incredible coral reef to build a huge aluminum judging tower for the three-day olympic surfing competition. Three days ago the olympic barge that will be used to build the controversial tower destroyed all of the coral heads in its way during high tide, even breaking its propeller in the process. The barge is supposed to carry an aluminum tower that will be planted on the coral reef. This is despite there being an existing wooden tower that has been used for competitions in Teahupo'o to this day. This destruction happened on an empty barge, we can't even imagine what will happen once construction begins.
