https://longfellowbooks.com/event/2026-06-02/dont-fight-back-meg-stone
Join us for a powerful evening of conversation, storytelling, and myth-busting with author Meg Stone at Longfellow Books.
On Tuesday, June 2 at 6 PM, Meg will discuss her book Donât Fight Back: And 10 Other Myths About Crime, Personal Safety, and Gender-Based Violence alongside Prevention Action Change Director Clara Porter and Maine-based writer and author Margaret Grace Myers, whose recent book The Fight for S*x Ed explores the political battle over s*x education in the United States.
Drawing from decades of violence-prevention work, survivor stories, research, and lived experience, Meg challenges some of the most common narratives weâre taught about safety, danger, and gender-based violence â and explores what actually helps keep people safer.
Expect an evening of thoughtful conversation, practical insight, humor, and justice-centered dialogue about what real safety can look like in our communities.

Join us at our event with TOMORROW night in the store!
Somewhere along the way to adulthood, we learned that play is frivolous. Childish. Something to outgrow. We treat it like a reward we have to earn, separate from our ârealâ lives. But denying our playfulness has a costâit leaves us feeling drained and disconnected. We rely on pressure and perfectionism, trying to force outcomes, wondering why nothing feels fun anymore.
Thereâs another way.
And you can find out what it is at the event! This event will have an interactive format, so come prepared to share your own stories of playfulness and wonder (if youâre willing, of course!). We hope to see you there!

Play comes with you everywhere.
The event will have an interactive format with Piera and friends sharing stories of times they chose The Playful Way and saw a profound shift â attendees will be invited to reflect and jot down their own stories and have a chance to opt into sharing.
