JLA Public Involvement

Y2K at JLA! In recognition of the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), signed into law July 26 1990, the JLA team held a themed staff meeting - dressing from the 90s while talking about all the ways accessibility shows up in public involvement practice.

90s fashion is having a moment, but ADA has never gone out of style. From public meeting design to graphic design, web accessibility guidelines to language interpretation tools, there are so many ways we can make public communications and engagement processes more accessible and welcoming.

Must be summer! JLAers are headed out all over, stocked with easels, stickers and cookies. In the last two days, we've enjoyed talking about drinking water with folks in Medford, about the vision for a future Aquatics and Recreation Center in Oregon City, and with Happy Valley area residents about transportation system needs in Clackamas County.

Rebuild the Burnside Bridge, piece by piece! Portland’s iconic bridge is hitting its centennial year, and you’re invited to the big party on Saturday, May 30! The bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic, creating a rare opportunity to walk its span car-free as community members celebrate its rich history. Among those celebrating is local LEGO builder Eric Matson who crafted a special replica of the Burnside Bridge and will be on display during the event. @multnomahcounty #lego #bridge #portland #centennial #burnside #party

The team is busy prepping for the City of Milwaukie Monroe Greenway open house. Willie Nelson (the furry one in the middle) has been a big help to Tracie and Esme.
