🔥 Have you ever noticed tightness in your neck? If you’ve tried stretching, “cracking,” or massaging it and nothing has helped… this post is for YOU.
🤔 There may be a deeper reason for that tightness.
☝🏼 The top two bones in your neck play a huge role in head and neck stability. If that area is off, your muscles may tighten to compensate.
⛓️💥 It might not be a tight muscle problem… it might be a stability problem.

🤕 Recurring headaches can be frustrating, especially when nothing “serious” ever shows up on tests.
🙆🏼♀️ You try the stretches, the massages, maybe even medications, but nothing ever brings lasting relief.
🤔 That’s because for a lot of people, the issue isn’t just muscle tension or stress.
🧠 Your nervous system plays a huge role.
👀 The top of your neck sits right next to your brainstem, which is the control center for how your body processes stress, tension, and pain.
⛓️💥 If that area isn’t functioning well, your body can stay in a constant state of compensation → leading to headaches that just keep coming back.
💌 DM “HEADACHES” if this sounds like you

🧠 The vagus nerve is a BIG topic right now and it makes sense why. But here’s what a lot of people aren’t talking about 👇🏼
🌞 Things like cold plunges, humming, and deep breathing can absolutely have a direct (and often immediate) effect on the vagus nerve, but if your symptoms keep coming back, there may be more of a source issue
⛓️💥 The vagus nerve starts in the brainstem which is the control center for automatic processes like breathing, heart rate, and stress response
1️⃣ The top bone in your neck sits right next to this area. When there’s stress or misalignment here, it can affect how the nervous system is functioning
🤔 There’s more to the vagus nerve than most people realize
💌 DM “vagus nerve” if this resonates

We just received another great review on Google:
🤔 Debilitating headaches? The issue might be at the top of your neck.

Let’s reintroduce ourselves 👋🏼
We’re the team behind Portland Specific Chiropractic, co-owners and spouses Dr. Paulina Kaminski and Dr. Nikolai Young, along with Winston, our golden retriever and official furry team member. We opened our doors in June 2024 and have been so grateful to serve the people of Oregon ever since.
Our passion for upper cervical care is personal.
During undergrad, Dr. Kaminski experienced significant health challenges including severe anxiety, panic attacks, and intense sensitivity to light and sound. It reached a point where even walking into a grocery store felt overwhelming and physically distressing.
Everything changed when we discovered upper cervical chiropractic.
Over time, with precise and gentle care, her body began to heal. That experience did not just change her health. It shaped our calling.
We made the decision to dedicate our lives to helping people who feel stuck or overlooked, especially those dealing with symptoms that may stem from upper cervical misalignment and nervous system dysfunction.
This is not just what we do. It is our mission.
We are deeply committed to continued education, clinical excellence, and delivering the most precise upper cervical care possible.
Thank you for trusting us with your health. We are just getting started 🤍
