Three Sessions 07/18/2018

I believe that our most challenging situations can turn into beautiful testimonies with the right equipping and mindset, because here's the truth:

🔹There is no circumstance or relationship that cannot be redeemed
🔹There is no mess that cannot be cleaned up
🔹There is no chain that cannot be broken
🔹There is no mistake that cannot be forgiven
🔹There is nothing too complicated for God

Carrying a burden that you need to lay down? Looking at an obstacle and unsure of how to move forward? Feeling stuck emotionally and spiritually?

Maybe it's time to move on, find freedom, and step into the live you are called to live.

Through the end of July, I'm running this special- 3 online sessions for $99. Click the link below to learn more.

When you have a moment, take the time to read through Matthew 18. You'll find the story of the unmerciful servant who refused to follow in his master's generous example.

When the master discovers that this servant has been stingy and that his own kindness was taken for granted, he turned this servant over to be 'tortured.'

It's all right there and if we study this passage, we'll learn something. Our unforgiveness causes us to suffer. This may manifest in a number of ways. But through this story, Jesus is very clear. Because He died on the cross for us and has forgiven us of EVERYTHING, we are expected to follow his example and be forgiving as well.

Are you suffering right now because of a grudge you hold? I'd love to chat with you more about what forgiveness looks like. Just message me.

Kari Jobe - The More I Seek You w/lyrics 07/15/2018

Sitting quietly this morning with this song in my head. There is no substitute for the powerful presence of Jesus. If you seek Him you will find him, and you will find peace for your soul.

Is your comfort zone the best place to be?

When I look back at my life, I see several moments where I was thrust way out of my comfort zone:

-when I left the US with just a few pieces of luggage and headed to Africa to live for two years in a mud house
-when I found out I was pregnant with my first child
-when I was put on bedrest for two months during my second pregnancy
-when my family fell apart with conflict
-when my husband found out his job was sending us to the UK
-when my husband took a sabbatical, quitting his job without knowing when the next paycheck would come

In each of these moments, I remember how hard things were, but I also look back with such fondness because while each of these circumstances were challenging, they also mark a period of significant personal growth.

Because I was willing to step outside of my comfort zone, I grew in resiliency and confidence. I learned to trust in God for healing, provision, friendship, and comfort. I learned more about my own emotions and needs. I learned how to ask for help, how to love others well, and how to say 'no.'

I think we all need a moment now and then to visit our comfort zones to catch a breath. But, I don't believe that this is where we are meant to live. As followers of Jesus we are meant to live bold, courageous lives.

When is the last time you felt the thrill of a new faith adventure? Is it time to step out of your comfort zone? What is God asking you to do?

How many of your decisions are fueled by the fear of God?

I'm not talking about the kind of fear that terrorizes and makes you want to protect yourself. I'm talking about fear that is rooted in love and accompanied by deep and profound respect. This is the kind of fear you are to have with your God.

When trying to figure out that next step in a sticky relationship, do you stop and consider how to honor God? Or are you worried about protecting yourself or someone else?

Maybe if our decisions, words, and actions sprung from a healthy fear in God, we would worry less about what 'this' person thinks or about how 'that' person behaves.

Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' "

Let's keep these commandments in order. Let's love God first and wholeheartedly. Then, let's let that love pour out onto others. When we live this way, we do not fear those around us, but we are able to serve them in love instead.

Food for thought this weekend:

What would radical grace look like in your relationships?
How would you conversation change if you were relentless about truth?
In what ways would your life be transformed by resolute holiness?

These are all big things. These types of answers do no come quickly, but if you take the time to discover the answers, life as you know it will change.

Tell me in your own words. How would you define it?

The purpose of life is to know Him and make Him known, right? Yet I often get distracted from this pure and lovely calling.

I find myself suddenly overwhelmed with fear and worry. I spend time contemplating the 'what-if's' and the 'should-have's.' I spend my time trying to figure it out, make it work, get it done. My to do list becomes greater than my prayer list and I suddenly realize that I fall short.

But when I pause and allow my perspective to once again focus on Jesus, I see it again, with clarity. It's not about what I do, it's about where I abide. It's not about wondering, it's about resting. It's about Jesus, plain and simple.

No matter what today brings- whatever joy or heartache, if I abide in Christ then I will be at peace. If I allow myself to stay within His shadow, then I can rest.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Light. Come what may, my eyes are fixed.

The sustainability of our faith is determined by our willingness to forgive. We cannot cling to both Jesus and our grievances.
