🎶 Music has the power to bring people together — and last week, our students proved exactly that!

As part of a mini mission trip, my elementary music students from Valor took their talents into the community. They performed on their mallet instruments, shared what they've been learning, and led a joyful movement song for MIAH Families at Gigi's Playhouse — a wonderful center for autistic families.

MIAH Families is an incredible organization that creates inclusive spaces where every age and ability belongs, and it was such an honor to be a small part of that mission.

The kids were absolutely glowing — and when families came over afterward to thank them, there wasn't a dry eye in the room. We all left feeling so blessed. 🙏

This is exactly WHY we teach music. Not just for the notes on the page, but for moments like these.

Pioneer and Icon Maria Montessori

Maria Tecla Artemisia Montessori (31 August 1870 – 6 May 1952) was an Italian physician and educator best known for her philosophy of education and her writing on scientific pedagogy. At an early age, Montessori enrolled in classes at an all-boys technical school, with hopes of becoming an engineer. She soon had a change of heart and began medical school at the Sapienza University of Rome, becoming one of the first women to attend medical school in Italy; she graduated with honors in 1896. Her educational method is in use today in many public and private schools globally. Join us this week as we learn more about Maria's life and philosophy.
