Proud to join in honoring this civil rights icon and proud to live in a city with a street named for him.

As we remember the life and legacy of Harvey Milk today, we re-commit ourselves to his vision: “All young people, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, deserve a safe and supportive environment in which to achieve their full potential.” —Harvey Milk

Today and every day, we will fight for all LGBTQ+ people to be safe, celebrated, empowered, and loved. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Wow. That is some kind of ask from your locals. Good for you for sticking to your principles!

2026 4th of July Parade UPDATE:

After much discussion we have had to make the difficult decision to remove ourselves from the Madison 4th of July Parade lineup.

As much as we appreciate the connections we've made over the years and the many people who have walked with us the guidelines continue to be increasingly difficult for us to abide by and still have the impact intended.

This year's Parade does not just require patriotic theme but to be representative of the country's 250th celebration. We could pour hundreds of dollars into the most red white and blue extravaganza there is but that just makes us look like everyone else in the parade.

Our goal has been to be bright and visible. To be a beacon of hope and love to those who need it most and to get our name out their as a support and resource organization. We do not feel we can successfully accomplish that AND meet the city's Parade requirements.

Please DO NOT reach out to the city or city officials on our behalf. They are wanting a particular look and feel to their 4th of July Parade as is their right and we are grateful for the years we have been able to attend. This year we have simply made the decision to channel that funding and energy into other activities in our surrounding communities that better align with our mission.

We're not going anywhere, we are still here, we are still meeting and hosting events throughout the year and we look forward to seeing you all very soon! ❤️🌈❤️

Thank you, thank you, Empress Adrienne Alexander and everyone else who filled the room last night for Drag Bingo!

We deeply appreciate the $625 raised for our mini-grant and scholarship programs that support q***r youth and transgender college students.

As a volunteer-driven chapter that's one of the oldest in the PFLAG National network, we are proud to carry on our work of supporting parents, families, friends and allies of everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community.

Come visit our booth during Portland Pride July 18-19 and cheer for us in the Pride Parade!

Short notice, but a very cool event for q***r students, parents and allies!

Stephanie Fairyington is a q***r writer from NYC promoting her just-published book "UGLY: A Letter to My Daughter."

She has a reading TOMORROW, May 14 @ 6:30 p.m., with local q***r author Neil Cochrane, author of "The Story of a Hundred Promises," at Literary Arts, 716 NE Grand Ave., in Portland, and she's inviting q***r students to the event along with parents and allies.

Steph situates her book in a personal narrative within an historical and cultural analysis of western notions of beauty.

"Who’s inside the beauty paradigm?" she asks. "Who’s outside? Why? Who does it serve? .... (It's) written in the form of a letter to my attractive and traditionally feminine daughter, who’s now 10 and whom I’ve seen, as early as age six, strain under the weight of beauty imperatives.

Book it!

This is what community looks like.

Two of us past and present board members were invited to speak to a Unitarian Universalist congregation about PFLAG Portland, a subject near and dear to our hearts as parents of LGBTQ+ children.

We talked about our families' experiences with a gay daughter and a transgender son, respectively, and we shared the story of Jeanne Manford, who is widely celebrated as the mother who inspired parents, families, and allies to establish PFLAG in 1973.

"The Mother of a Movement," written by Rob Sanders and illustrated by Sam Kalda, conveys a powerful message of a mother's love for her gay son.

We are proud to be one of more than 400 chapters in the PFLAG National network and doubly proud to share our chapter's history with members of a congregation that shares our values.
