In group classes itโ€™s easy to get caught up in how things look; comparing shapes, worrying if youโ€™re doing it โ€œright,โ€ or wondering what others are thinking

But Pilates isnโ€™t a performance.

No oneโ€™s grading you.

The real work is internal.

Itโ€™s about noticing how a movement feels in ๐’š๐’๐’–๐’“ body. The steadiness of your breath, the level of your effort, the depth of your control, all ๐’š๐’๐’–๐’“ sensations.

That awareness (hello, interoception ๐Ÿ‘‹) is where all the best benefits live.

So soften the urge to copy, perfect, or impress.
Turn your attention inward.

My Dearest Pilates Snob Community,

Iโ€™d like to take a moment to offer a sincere apology regarding a situation with my platform. It has come to my attention that I have committed an unforgivable offense: I have continued (relentlessly, even) to advocate for and to teach Pilates the way โ€œJoseph Pilates actually intended itโ€.

I never meant for things to go this far.

While the world begs for fluffier transitions, pastel-colored modifications, and choreography that looks cute on Instagram, Iโ€™ve selfishly insisted on spine correctors, footwork done correctly, and exercises that actually, you knowโ€ฆ work.

For this, I am truly sorry. And I certainly did not mean to alienate anyone by uttering the phrase, โ€œwtfโ€ more times than some people say hello. Iโ€™m sorry that I have upheld the traditional order, rhythm, and precision of the work when I could have easily given in to the chaos.

Sorry that I keep reminding you that your powerhouse exists.
Sorry that I refuse to pretend the hundred is โ€œoptional.โ€
And Iโ€™m deeply sorry for my inability to dilute Joseph Pilatesโ€™ lifeโ€™s work into a palatable, low-effort, influencer-friendly version of โ€œmovement.โ€

Going forward, I will do my best to continue disappointing anyone hoping for watered-down content. I will strive to stay stubbornly committed to the classical lineage, even if it means fewer followers and more personal fulfillment.

May you someday find it in your cores to forgive me.
