Save the date! We will be at City Hall on October 14th at 8:45 to rally for Forest Park and to let City Council know that we oppose PGE's plans to cut hundreds of trees in Forest Park, a move that goes against the Forest Park Natural Resources Management Plan.

🌲 Update on the fight to protect Forest Park

Last year, Portland City Council unanimously denied Portland General Electric’s permit to build a power line through Forest Park. PGE appealed that decision, and Crag attorneys joined Bird Alliance of Oregon, Forest Park Conservancy, and Forest Park Neighborhood Association in defending the City’s decision before the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals.

Since then, our clients, PGE, and the City of Portland engaged in mediation in an effort to find a resolution that would protect Forest Park. Unfortunately, the City and PGE ultimately reached an agreement without our clients that would allow PGE to seek a new permit to log five acres in Forest Park, with the City’s support.

In response, our clients scheduled a rally at Portland City Hall on October 14, to which all are invited.

The rally will be an opportunity for community members to learn more and show their support for protecting Forest Park, its wildlife, wetlands, and ancient trees.

National Public Lands Day is less than a month away! To celebrate our favorite parks, we will be hosting volunteer work parties in Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park on National Public Lands Day (Saturday, September 26th).

We will be removing invasive plants, like English ivy, from the forest to help restore the local ecosystem, saving trees and creating space for native plants to thrive.

National Public Lands Day is only a month away! Each year we celebrate by hosting a morning full of volunteer opportunities, and we would love to have you join us! Thank you to our friends at Cotopaxi for joining us on the trails this week! Cotopaxi has supported our work for a while now, and it was great to work with their team out on the trails and get our hands dirty. Altogether, with the 7 folks from Cotopaxi, we were able to re-brush 0.55 mi of Wildwood N from 53rd, helping keep the trail clear and accessible for park users. Awesome work for a small group of volunteers!

The second of this summer's bilingual puppet shows is tomorrow! It's fun for the whole family, Joeanally González has created a wonderful show that helps kids learn to discover and care for the natural world.

Thank you to the 13 volunteers who joined us on the trails yesterday! Together, we brushed 0.9 miles of trail across Birch, Wildwood, and Wildcherry trails.

We are so close to reaching our summer goal of brushing 50 miles of trail in Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park. If you'd like to help us reach our goal, while making the trails safer and more accessible, we would love to have you join us for one of our final two summer brushing work parties.
