Spent the better part of last week in a 300 year old hacienda in Jalisco, and I genuinely didn’t want to leave. I friggin love stone archways, open courtyards, and I’m a slt for hand-painted tile 😍 So yeah, Hacienda la Gavilana is one of my favorite places.
Grateful to for bringing me out here once again. This is their home, and a physical manifestation of the hospitality at the center of their brand. I’m already dreaming about my return.

What started as just taking photos of cocktails in my backyard has become a full-blown career for just short of the last decade. This week, it took me back to Guadalajara with for Season 1 of “Distilling Stories” 🌋 I got to spend the week with friends and fellow educators and , and lead a cocktail content workshop with an absolutely fantastic crew of bartenders from all over the U.S. It was truly an unforgettable experience in many ways. Thank you to all the hospitality professionals and creatives who came out for the trip, and of course to my lovely Volcán family. The and myself will undoubtedly be back soon!
Don’t call me boss or chief. But a passing comparison to Pedro? I WILL DO ANYTHING FOR YOU.
Also, if you made that toasted almond Orgeat recipe I shared on Simple Syrup Monthly, you should definitely make this ✌️

What is your response to this one? 🥃
Shelves are in. Boxes are slowly but surely getting put away in the new space. Feeling like I need a full-blown 2 week vacation but we press on. Hope you dig this one… it’s a bit more “normal” and a bit less weird that the last few weeks of Old Fashioneds 🥃

Thanks to and .hark for finding and installing the perfect shelves for the new spot🤘
Still grabbing bottles out of random boxes 📦 BUT the shelves are up and the new studio is looking more and more like a proper Bat Cave.

It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day… it’s a new studio. I’m still moving, and trying to find where to put things, and/or decide what to get rid of, but we’re in here! Thank you to all the homies who have helped me move so far, and everyone who has offered help in some way 🫶
Moving is rough. It’s one of the worst things. Change can be rough too… but excited for a new space and new energy. Anyhoo, let’s go 🤘

It’s the end of an era (for me anyway). It won’t affect much for you… I’m not actually “ending” anything. But leaving this studio after nearly 4 years feels like a pretty massive change for me. So excuse me while I go cry in the corner with a bottle of Mezcal.
