⚖️🥠 Crumbs of Fortune by phenomenal creative team; Nichole Morningstar and Perry Crowe, is a one-shot parable about one unlucky rabbits' chance at change. Fresh out of fortune cookies? No worries, I've got one right here and it says: "stop by the shop and read this comic!"

💘🧾 Here's a sample (no spoilers, I promise): Marvin works in telemarketing and isn’t very good at it. His job is in danger and he’s also on track to die alone, which his grump of a father is always quick to point out. But when Marvin is shut out of a company lunch due to his poor performance, a chance encounter and some cheap chop suey delivers a dessert that changes his life.

💜 Crowe and Morningstar’s work is charmingly distorted, an expertly illustrated story that’s both silly and unsettling. And I’m hungry for more!

🥀🏃‍♂️‍➡️ Dejection by local cartoonist Soren Joray is an action-packed short story about two strangers connected by unbearable sadness, and antagonism that turns to understanding. Have the urge to scale a few buildings and leap over rooftops? Cool with us, pick up a copy of this comic on your way!

⚾️🤸‍♂️ Here's a sample (no spoilers, I promise): In the chaotic blur of everyday life, there is the desire for escape. Two people in NYC struggle on opposite ends of this dilemma. Both wanting an escape by any means necessary. Michael clings to his past and Josh rushes forward. Will they find their way out, or cling to the void they’re trapped in?

🧡 Joray’s lightning fast action and high-strung emotional conflict had my heart in my throat. Also, the double-page spread illustration is craaaaazy!

What's Portland known for? Gotta be Zine and Indie Pub Spotlight day!

🦑🪥 Sketchy People by Jack Kent is an ongoing series of life drawing collections that illustrate the draw of Portland, and many other cities; The people of course! The very weird and wonderful people. Volume nine and ten are now available at the storefront! Come on by! Also you have to tell me if you recognize anyone in there, it's the rules.

🚲🧸 Here's a sample (no spoilers, I promise): This project is about celebrating, documenting, and drawing people from all walks of life. Creator Jack Kent started Sketchy People in 2016. Each sketch is complete with a timestamp and cross street. A sketch could be someone you've seen before. It could be your friend. It could be you! The zeitgeist of this project is to remind us that we’re more alike than we are unalike.

💚Kent’s work is a Portland staple! Each quirky illustration is a much needed reminder that goofballs are everywhere. And we’re exactly what makes the world go ‘round.

💚 Nyeholt’s compact zine is the perfect companion on snacky walks around the city. Each botanical illustration is beautiful and instructive. I’m ready to forage!

🎉🪫 Here's a sample (no spoilers, I promise): The world has changed beyond recognition, but Kevin still has to face the hell that is making it out the front door. How much longer can he try to fit into the new normal when he’s going it blind?

🩵 Orr’s near-liquid line-work brings the characters’ inner turmoil into the glaring light of day. This zine makes my heart ache. I need part 2!!

🏔️🌺 Seeing & Not Seeing by local cartoonist Schuyler Smith is a risograph-printed fantasy comic about a naive guard and his charge: a mysterious woman who will see justice done at any cost. But she could use a little help with her plan. Come on by the shop and bring your walking shoes for this one, folks!

🌳🏰 Here's a sample (no spoilers, I promise): First there was a tree surrounded by a citadel. Eons or a day later, a citadel guard follows a forest-dweller deep into the wild woods and learns that nothing is what it seems. Will revenge or passivity prevail?

💜 Smith’s gorgeously detailed foliage and creative paneling transports the reader into a world of -beings with natures both marvelous and kinda goofy!

🦡💅 Passenger by local cartoonist Jam Dyer is a realistic fiction comic about q***r yearning and the benefits (and social anxieties) of taking a chance on somebody! Stop by the store and melt into this mesmerizing zine.

🎨🪩 Here's a sample (no spoilers, I promise): Three people reach for connection in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic: a mermaid, a muse, and a pair of eyes behind binoculars. Who are they to each other? Maybe the night sky will have answers.

🩵 Dyer’s dreamy watercolors illuminate the safe place within a nightmare. Soft, urgent, and hopeful. I wish I could stay with these characters longer!
