40-Mile Loop
We are an advocacy group promoting a system of connected recreational trails spanning 40 miles in a loop around the Portland Metro Area.
Helping make the loop a reality is a big return for a small investment. Activities of the Land Trust include:
+ Acquiring lands by using funds available in the Trust’s revolving fund.

The 40 Mile Loop has not publicly taken a position regarding this, however, Iif you are concerned about the challenges and safety problems presented when people live and camp on our regional trails, you may want to consider virtually attending the University Park Neighborhood Association Board meeting tonight.
A team from Portland City Commissioner Dan Ryan’s office will be presenting about the proposed “Safe Rest Village“ located along the Peninsula Crossing Trail in the University Park Neighborhood Association, Portland, Oregon not far from the University of Portland. Our government has spent millions of dollars building and maintaining this trail over the years. It is a vital part of the North Portland Greenway trail and the 40 mile loop. Registration to attend and link is in the post below.
University Park Neighborhood Association University Park is a 110 year old neighborhood squeezed between the bluff above the Willamette River and busy Lombard Street. It is rich in green spaces and is home to the University of Portland and the Lombard business strip (a pleasant mix of old and new).

Big water on the big river! Today around 100k cfs. That is a lot of water going over Willamette Falls in Oregon City, RM 26.5. Things begin to drop over the next few days. We hope you are all doing well.

Deadline today at 5:00! It's really important to let the authorities know how much we value Willamette Cove land and want to put it back into safe recreation use for our friends and neighbors. This is part of the North Portland Greenway npGREENWAY which is a very important part of the 40 Mile Loop.

We recognize that Black and brown people often do not feel safe using trail systems, and the Land Trust aims to figure out how to mitigate these barriers. Our first step is to recognize the past as we pledge to encourage positive reformation to systemic challenges and make certain the 40-Mile Loop is open and accessible to all.
