For 60 years, the Creative Arts Community has provided unique residential workshops at Menucha. Imagine summer in the Pacific Northwest, a whole week to focus on art, make new friends, continue friendships, take your art to a new level, and rejuvenate your spirit; that’s what happens during Creative Arts Community at Menucha.

In two separate, one-week sessions in August, we offer hands-on exploratory workshops focused across a variety of arts disciplines.

Registration opens Wednesday, March 4, at 10am PST

Registration will be on Menucha's website (https://www.menucha.org/programs/creative-arts). Classes often sell out quickly, so if you have your heart set on one, plan to register right away.

Join CAA at Mulieribus's Among Women, a community event held in honor of International Women’s Day! Happening on March 8... from 4-6 at Irving St. Studio in Portland. RSVP required (see poster for more info).

The gathering serves as a vibrant showcase of local talent and a tribute to the innovative women who shape Portland’s artistic community.

Featured artists this year include the In Mulieribus ensemble, singer song writer Edna Vasquez, dancer and choreographer Chisao Hata, poet Janice Gould, and visual artist Mini Giri. Beyond performances, the event features light food and refreshments as well as a communal art project where guests can express their own creativity and participate in a collective tribute to women in their lives.

Debra Chase, President of Creative Arts Community, wrote in recent email to Oregon Art Watch that event participants will be offered art materials to honor a woman mentor in their life. But before the event, said Chase, you are “encouraged to make a work of art in any medium, take a photo of it and email it to ([email protected]) to print and hang at the event.” Deadline to email your work is March 5. Sadly, the Among Women Event is Sold Out this year but we look forward to you coming next year to a larger venue. Last year was the first year and this year the venue holds 450, so next year will be even bigger!

Create Art for International Women's Day, March 8th!

The Creative Arts Community is excited to participate in a new event in Portland called "Among Women: Celebrating Women in the Arts," which honors women who inspire us to change the world every day. These inspirational women could be mentors, teachers, ancestors, activists, "sheroes," or muses whose lives and creativity have motivated and encouraged us.

We invite YOU to join us in creating one or more tribute squares honoring the women who are important to you. Afterward, please upload a photo of your creation to Creative Arts' page or email it to [email protected]. CAC will print an 8x8 photo of your artwork to display on an "Among Women" pop-up tribute quilt wall, honoring these remarkable women on International Women's Day, March 8, 2025. This day traditionally recognizes collective activism for women’s equality around the world. (More details will follow!)

The event will be hosted by the women’s vocal ensemble, In Mulieribus, and will feature visual and performing arts by diverse women artists from the greater Portland area. "Among Women" will serve as a gathering space for participants to share their creativity while honoring the resilience and creative spirit of the women who inspire and sustain us and our communities. Stay tuned for deadlines for uploading your tribute squares. We may also invite you to bring your artwork, even if you don't have time to upload it. Additional information regarding the location and timing will be provided later.
