Give me a tray of madefromcarbon Karina Lomelin Ripper Cambria Matlow Heather Hawksford and Lauren Everett plus 200 hot dogs made by the GOAT of owning the party, แฟรน ศิริภัณท์ บิทากิส, served alongside a nice chilled waterfall, swimming hole, two creeks, and a main course of some of my favorite bands and performers in Portland including Yawa orquestra pacífico tropical VooVol Night Heron and a first time face melt from PartyWitch, and I’m a happy gurl. Cannot be more grateful to be in this orbit. Our Portland Premiere of SPACE: A MEDITATION ON THE MEANING OF ART sold out, so we are doing it again! Tonight, 7/31, in Portland at the storied NW Marine Art Works’ Building 5 where the last scenes of the film were recorded.

This one is a special kind of screening, in a 4,000 square foot, 3+ story tall warehouse that feels more like a chapel than anything else. We are erecting a cinema inside, DIY style. There’s no A/C. We are rolling out the folding chairs. There will be food and drink, live music by Samie Joan Samie Joan Pfeifer and The Big Vibe Band, and an exhibition of rarely displayed artworks by the late and beloved Tim Stapleton, whose heroic demise by ALS is documented in this wacky, heartfelt and death-demistifying film from the jazzed out brain of writer/director David Poulshock.

We are feeling very romantic about this gathering, so come on out Portland, and feel the romance of DIY art, film, music, collaboration, and celebration.

The FF is bringing some of the most buzzy and gorgeous films (and filmmakers!) to Portland and the energy has been at 11 the entire week. I’m so grateful I get to witness and be a part of it along side my Portland besties and new besties. Two of my films play in the festival this Saturday April 18, 12:00pm so check out the Panorama schedule and - you know what to do. 😉

This year, Portland Panorama Film Festival included the annual extravaganza that is DOC CAMP hosted by and I am brimming with awe and thanks and pride.

I’ve been volunteering with Doc Camp for the past several years and it never fails to be the heart-healing, enriching, and project strengthening forum that it promises to be. It was huge this year, and the filmmakers who came through from all over the world were full of life and their films are full of hope and I can’t wait to see them all come to fruition. If you’ve got a work-in-progress and you’re looking for community and support, submit to the next Doc Camp and come join us!

I’ve made so many new friends! I’m in film heaven!

Best part of festivals is the people you meet.

Movies that Matter was no exception. We made new friends for life and this carousel includes just a few of the many very special filmmakers, curators, programmers, artists, actionists, and change makers who have changed our lives in the meeting.
