In the face of inevitable loss, what does it truly mean to be brave?
And what does a hero do when they can’t save themself?

Three weeks and counting!
In a Philadelphia meeting room, a group of superheroes gathers anonymously to connect and support one another. As the year progresses, they celebrate birthdays, share stories, and face the reality of their own mortality.

In the face of inevitable loss, what does it truly mean to be brave?
And what does a hero do when they can’t save themself?

I was voted “Most Optimistic” in high school and sometimes that feels like a lot of pressure. 😅

I’m not *actually* playing Charity Hope Valentine on Friday night, but I’m using her songs as a jumping-off point for telling a few tales of my own. Her pluck still resonates, 60 years since the Broadway premiere, and I’m channelling it into Most Optimistic: a cabaret about wanting to be loved

Skip with me down memory lane, and we’ll leap-frog through the score of the 1966 musical comedy Sweet Charity with its famously resilient heroine. I’m optimistic she will rub off a little. ♥️

With a little help from my friends, and a lot of encouragement from friend and collaborator Matt Katz, maybe you’ll see yourself in Charity’s eyes. 💋

Hey, Big Spender…
I’m putting on my most personal show yet!

I’m sending out Valentines early, by diving into one of MY favorite musicals, Sweet Charity: The Adventures of a Girl Who Wanted to Be Loved

Charity Hope Valentine keeps looking for love in all the wrong places (with her most recent mistake, Charlie, emblazoned on her arm like a scarlet letter). But headstrong and hopeful as ever, Charity gets exactly what she needs…without resorting to rom-com tropes.

Friday, January 30 at 7:30pm, I’ll be singing her songs and drawing on her charm, backed by my enduring collaborator Matt Katz, and an audience of the bravest people I know.

Join us for Most Optimistic: a cabaret about wanting to be loved at Fuse Theatre Ensemble where the price of admission is always GAY AF (Give As You’re Able, Friends).
