One of the most underrated wilderness areas in Washington?! š
Indian Heaven Wilderness feels like one of those places people accidentally skip on the way to bigger names ā and thatās wild because this area is incredible.
Sawtooth Mountain was originally part of the Pacific Crest Trail before the route was changed in the 1970s, and now you get this quiet trail winding through forests, volcanic landscapes, and one of the coolest ridge lines Iāve seen.
This hike is about:āØā¢ 5.5 milesāØā¢ ~1,000 ft elevation gaināØā¢ exposed ridge sectionsāØā¢ views of Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier, and Mt. St. Helens on a clear day
Adding Indian Heaven Wilderness to my list of places Iāll absolutely be returning to.

Between the narrow canyon walls, waterfalls, cliffside trail sections, and hiking behind Tunnel Falls⦠this place feels like something out of a fantasy movie.
A few things that make this trail so special:
⢠Originally built in 1910 using dynamite to carve sections into the canyon walls
⢠Punch Bowl Falls is actually a kayaking drop during high water
⢠Tunnel Falls literally has a cave carved behind the waterfall
⢠Twister Falls and the Vortex are absolutely worth continuing for

- Nothing humbles you faster than thinking thereās a tick on you mid-hike š Spring hiking = tall grass, brush, and all the places ticks love to hang out⦠so Iāve gotten a lot better about actually prepping before I go. Spray, go, explore ā itās that simple. With , I donāt spend the whole hike spiraling over every little thing on my leg ā it gives me long-lasting protection from ticks, mosquitoes, and biting flies so I can actually enjoy being outside. Because the goal is to come back with good memories⦠not unwanted hitchhikers. You can find OFF at most major retailers!
What did I miss? š¤£š
Things outdoorsy girls might swoon over⦠or maybe those are just me?!
I donāt know. But hopefully youāre as entertained as I was making this list.
