Way, way back in the day...in 1978, before Portland was hip, before anybody really knew where Portland was, Heidi and Jeff Van Dyke were a young married couple who knew. They dreamt about having a small cafe where Jeff could create a new soup from scratch everyday, Heidi could bake the cake recipes she learned at her parents' side back in her previous home of Berlin, and they’d have Sunday and Mon

🍗 rotisserie chicken with fingerling potatoes and a spring vegetable⁠ ragout ⁠

🐟 in-season halibut with grilled asparagus, sugar snap peas, pickled radish, and a lemon-miso beurre blanc ⁠

🥩 steak frites with grilled coulotte steak, house shoestring potatoes, seasonal vegetables, chimichurri, and smoked spring onion aioli⁠

Strawberry rhubarb tart 🍓☁️✨ Shortbread crust filled with rhubarb-strawberry panna cotta, rhubarb compote, and whipped strawberry ganache. She’s only here for another week or so, so come and get it while you can!

It’s time for a lunch comeback! To make lunch feel like the classic, more affordable mid-day meal we all know and love, we’ve revamped our menus.⁠

You’ll now find more sandwiches and entree-sized salads on the menu, all at lower prices than before. Highlights like eggplant parm sandwich ($16), a creamy pesto pasta with pulled rotisserie chicken ($17), a fried oyster mushroom sandwich with hot honey ($14), and a rich, lemony asparagus and prosciutto fettuccine ($18).⁠

We hope this inspires you to do a little more in-person lunching during your week. See you on NW 23rd and SE Milwaukie soon!
