On the boards...Canal 5 Studio is currently involved in the proposed design for a cold storage warehouse facility for the Maine Port Authority, Eimskip and Americold. The new facility will augment multi-million dollar investments already made by the Maine Port Authority in the International Marine Terminal on Commercial Street by facilitating trade between Northern New England and European markets. The design incorporates storage, distribution and office space while facilitating intermodal rail, truck and sea transportation modalities. The city of Portland’s Department of Economic Development is currently seeking a change in the city’s land use code to permit the facility to be constructed. Construction is expected to begin in late 2017.
