🌈 Praise the Lord... and BE the ammunition.

In this Pride Month message, Rev. Jody Beal explores a simple but transformative truth: God loves and accepts us exactly as we are.

Drawing from Romans 5 and Matthew 9, this sermon challenges harmful messages often associated with Christianity and invites us to reclaim what it means to follow Jesus through kindness, compassion, generosity, and love.

✨ You are God's beloved child.
✨ Grace is for everyone.
✨ Our lives can be a witness to God's love.

What if the world learned about Jesus by watching how we live?

Watch "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition" and share it with someone who needs to hear that they are loved, accepted, and welcomed by God.

Long before tone-deaf Target swag and rainbow-scented hashtags lit up the very q***r month of June, Rev. Troy Perry was helping the LGBTQ+ community create space where it did not yet exist, and he did so with little more than faith and perseverance. This Pride season, as communities around the world fight once again with rising attacks on LGBTQ+ rights and democratic freedoms, Perry returns to the movement he helped build for a conversation rooted not only in history but in survival. The unveiling of Steps to Liberation at Founders Metropolitan Community Church serves as an uplifting reminder that Pride is not just a parade but also serves as a commitment to continue to advocate for our community.

Joined by original rainbow flag co-creator Lynn Segerblom, Perry looks back on the legacy of the first Pride marches, the spiritual and political power of real representation, and why the rainbow flag still matters nearly fifty years after its creation. As Founders MCC transforms its front steps into a vibrant rainbow pathway, the symbolism feels especially timely – freedom is not a destination, it’s something communities continuously build together, step by step. In our interview, Perry speaks candidly on activism, faith, and his continued belief that even in difficult times, hope remains an unwavering act of resistance.

Today, the MCC Denomination pauses in profound sorrow, fierce love, and sacred remembrance as we mark the anniversary of the Pulse nightclub tragedy.

Ten years ago, a space of sanctuary, joy, and authentic self-expression for the LGBTQ+ community, especially our Latinx siblings, was shattered by an act of horrific violence. Today, we hold the 49 beautiful souls who were lost close to our hearts. We pray for their families, the survivors who carry the physical and emotional scars, and the entire Orlando community.

As a church born out of the struggle for LGBTQ+ liberation, MCC knows that our response to hate must always be an abundance of love and an unwavering commitment to justice. We refuse to let fear silence our joy. We refuse to let hatred dim our light.

What happens when God calls you to leave behind what's comfortable?

In "Embracing Pivotal Faith," we look at Abram's journey into the unknown and Matthew's decision to leave everything behind to follow Jesus. Their stories challenge us to consider our own turning points: the moments when faith asks us to trust, grow, and move forward.

As we prepare for Pride, this message also reminds us that the Church is called to welcome, affirm, and accompany those who have experienced rejection and exclusion. Faith isn't just believing—it's showing up.

Watch the sermon, then share it with someone who may need to hear that they are wanted, needed, and loved by God.
