Reflecting this afternoon on yesterday’s MEREDA presentation and update on the IDEALS Roux Institute campus planned for Portland. I don’t think the general public completely understands how massive this is for the City of Portland and the entire state. To attract this type of investment and talent to lil ol’ Maine will be transformational for generations. I can’t think of another time Portland has had an opportunity like this, let’s not screw it up!

Another space on Wharf Street is LEASED! Great tenant, great use, getting excited. More to come.

Congratulations to and the Portland Observatory on a wonderful and successful season! We had a great tour to close it out. Thanks to all the docents, volunteers, and staff for their hard work ensuring that tours could happen this season after being closed for all of 2020. Plan your visit for next summer!

Some things should be left unpainted, including this belvedere on State Street. Includes a lovely view of the State Street Church tower, designed by JCS!

Exposed ceiling goals. Most office tenants think exposing the ceilings is a quick demo job not realizing the need for new lighting, HVAC ducts, sprinkler work, and clean up of an old wooden deck that hasn’t seen daylight in 60 years. Might as well lease an office that already has exposed ceilings, like this one at 5 Milk Street.

Throughout the past year I’ve rarely been able to relate national pandemic office trends directly to the Portland market however I found these three quotes (from Australia...) to align with what I am hearing and seeing locally which speaks to the current and future office market here in Greater Portland.
