It's June, and a great way to celebrate Pride Month is to become more informed on being an ally to the Neroq***r folks in your life.
Neuroq***r individuals, those who are both neurodivergent and q***r, can face issues of ableism and homophobia that are unique to their overlapping identities. Read this article to see what some ADDitude Magazine readers have shared on how their loved ones and communities have supported and validated them through their lives.
How to Be a Neuroq***r Ally Learn how to be an ally with these allyship stories from neuroq***r readers who belong both to the ADHD and LGBTQ+ communities, and who struggle with heigโฆ

If you're in the area, stop by (1410 E. 11th Ave Spokane WA) and pick up a book from our curated list of titles featuring disabled, neurodivergent, and/or BIPOC characters. Just designate it as a donation to The Shadow Project at the register and we'll make sure it gets to a student who needs it.
It takes a community to make sure every kid can find themselves in a story. Thank you, Wishing Tree Books, for being part of ours. ๐

Our Reading Mentor students are being celebrated in the BEST way this spring! ๐๐
We were so lucky to welcome the The FLIP Museum, who brought an incredible hands-on experience centered around Native American culture. Students got to try canoe building, decorate fish and scan them into a Sketch Aquarium, create Seasonal Spinners, climb into a kayak, and use magnetic tiles to build and design.
Every single one of our reading mentors walked away with a certificate of participation to honor their hard work and dedication to the program. We are so grateful for every student, family, and volunteer who makes this program what it is. We are so proud of these amazing kids. โจ๐๐ถ
