The Shadow Project
The Shadow Project makes school more accessible and engaging for children with learning challenges, so they can achieve their full potential.
Does Aron Nels Steinke sign foreheads or just books? Watch to the end to find out the answer!
Graphic novels are reading! A big thank you to author, cartoonist, and former elementary teacher Aron Nels Steike for presenting and leading draw-alongs at two of our Reading Celebrations this spring!
Our Reading Mentor students worked hard all year towards their reading goals and events like this are a fun way to celebrate their progress at the end of the school year. Each student went home with a signed copy of Mr. Wolf's Class!

Some great book recommendations if you are looking for ways to learn and celebrate Juneteenth!
For many kids, reading doesnβt click until they find a character who looks or thinks like them. Vintage Books helped us get stocked with books that feature neurodivergent, disabled, and/or BIPOC characters.
Go check them out in Vancouver, WA!
Thank you to Pacific Northwest Booksellers for helping up get the word out about the Book Drive.
Our staff members are sharing their small wins this week π₯³
What was yours? Tell us in the comments so we can celebrate with you!
(Also sign ups for our Summer Goal Setting Program are currently in progress so sign up ASAP if you are interested in this FREE, online, parent led program for kids ages 4-14. More info on our website - link in bio :)
Representation matters! This Pride Month, consider picking up a book with LGBTQIA2S+ characters. These are just some of the books that we stock as options in our Shadow Store.

Happy Neurodiversity Pride Day! π
Every brain is different. Every kid deserves to thrive.
At The Shadow Project, we're working to make neuroinclusive education the standard so learning differences are understood, respected, and celebrated in school.
Is your school ready for every kind of learner?

We are honored to receive another round of funding from The Kuni Foundation to keep providing and expanding access to SuperSensory Spaces in Portland-area schools.
As one educator put it: "These spaces help teach them to be aware of their physical somatic needs and how those connect to their emotions and how to self-regulate."
Thank you, Kuni Foundation. We are so grateful for your continued investment in our kids. π
