Apply for the brand new Student Committee on Diversity (SCOD) by this Sunday at 11:59pm! The committee/position description and application are below. Please, please, please share this and consider being a part of this initiative!
The Committee on Diversity (COD) works to identify cross-divisional issues of diversity within the Reed Community, especially in relation to the hiring of new faculty and the resources provided to community members of color. The Student Committee on Diversity (SCOD) attends COD meetings and additionally meets once a week to review the topics discussed. SCOD primarily introduced and implements student-led initiatives in collaboration with COD, along with responding to topics covered by faculty during COD meetings. Members of SCOD will also sit on the subcommittees of COD – the categorization of which is decided at the beginning of each academic year – and are individually responsible for voicing student opinion in respect to issues of diversity, inclusion, and equity. There are nine students on the committee – one senator, one SEEDs student staff member, one MRC student staff member, and six appointed students.
This is an unpaid position. Applicants may be asked to sign a Release of Information form. Applications are due by 11/17 at 11:59pm; interviews will be held on 11/20 beginning at 7:30pm. Apply here: https://forms.gle/9GUoXLqnH7Mj2FkS6
