A few more highlights from our brief visit to Kaui last fall. We liked what we saw so much that we've already returned in 2026. I'll be working on a few new stories for the blog this month. Stay tuned! 🌴😎

I finally dined at Emeril's — the only two-Michelin-star restaurant in New Orleans. Here's what the tasting menu was really like.

I ate my way through New Orleans' MICHELIN Guide restaurants. Here's where I’d go back first.

Still thinking about this dinner at Giovedi in Honolulu’s Chinatown.
From the creamy onion dip with warm shrimp chips to the impossibly light gnocchi with beef cheek ragù, every dish felt thoughtful and beautifully executed.
The diver scallop carpaccio was bright and delicate, and we had to end with Mrs. Tran’s tiramisu (finished with Amaro Nonino, mascarpone, and espresso). 😍
One of my favorite meals from this trip to Oahu.

The POG (passion fruit, orange, guava) cake at Mille Fete bakery in Honolulu is a light and easy to eat treat any time of day. 🍰
We stopped by this new(ish) spot in Chinatown before moving on to cocktails and dinner.

Kicked off our return to Honolulu with dinner at Senia, and it set the bar high.
This Chinatown spot strikes a balance: polished but relaxed, with 80s throwbacks playing while thoughtful food comes out of the kitchen.
Highlights:
• Smoked ahi ci**rs (a must-order signature)
• Corn fritters with parmesan, limu, and chili—simple, done really well
• Hamachi tataki that lets the fish speak for itself
• Bone marrow with oxtail marmalade and Hawaiian sweet rolls if you’re feeling indulgent
We skipped alcohol and went with their NA drinks—both the Plantation Iced Tea and The Garden with Seedlip Drinks were refreshing.
Finished with a layered chocolate mousse with chocolate buttercake, macadamia dentelle, and milk sorbet.
If you’re planning where to eat on Oahu, this is a strong place to start.

I could've stopped at the 3-cheese board at Olympia Provisions in Portland, OR, and been quite content with dinner.
🧀 Taleggio - soft funky cheese
🧀 Miticana - Spanish sheep cheese
🧀 Brillat Savarin- triple cream cow cheese from France
But, we also shared the large housemade tagliatelle paglia e fieno, a classic pasta dish from Emilia-Romagna, Italy, made here allium cream, garlic, peas, crispy sweetheart ham, and Graba Padano. Buonissima! 🇮🇹

Portland’s most talked-about restaurant — and I went for my birthday. 🔥
Dinner at kann, Chef Gregory Gourdet’s live-fire Haitian restaurant, was one of the most memorable meals of the last year. Nearly everything touches the wood fire, and the flavors are bold, smoky, and unmistakably Caribbean.
If you’re planning a food trip to Portland, Oregon, this is a reservation worth building a night around. And it’s best to book early. I got lucky with a last-minute, 4:15 pm dinner reservation.
