Hi everyone! 👋 I'm Jason and I'm taking over the Perch instagram this week. ⁠

I love space, so our recent exhibit at the was a fun one for me! I was also excited to hopefully help kids get excited about space and see themselves as someone who could be apart of the space program. ⁠🚀🌕⁠

This pic is from our last day of install, when Connor and I were putting together all the parts for the Gyroscope. Not sure how many hours in we were, but you can tell things got a little slap happy behind the scenes!

We collaborated with our friends at .design.build, who helped bring our rocket dreams to life for the new Space Explorers exhibit at . ⁠

We were all hands on deck last week at installing our newest exhibit: Lift Off! Space Explorers 💫⁠

There’s a giant rocket, a star-covered wall, and more behind-the-scenes wiring than we can count.⁠

We’re so excited to start sharing all of the magic and chaos it took to bring this exhibit to life. ✨🔧🪐

Next up is the new Maine Discovery Center (AKA The Maine State Aquarium!) 🦞 We have had so much fun collaborating with Chris Sullivan and DMR to design and build multiple interactives and a new shark exhibit for their updated Learning Lab. Over the next couple of weeks we will take you through our design process and introduce you to the specific exhibits and their supporting interactives.

It's a bonus when a client meeting includes a visit with some underwater friends. This stunning blue lobster didn't have much to contribute to the conversation but sure was curious!

We wanted to share a few candids from the making of our interactive wall for the conference!⁠

Don and his son built the birch plywood structure on a beautiful sunny weekend, from there we jumped in to testing the short throw projector. We painted our landscape background and then we added on the touch points using our conductive paint. Lots of code and animations later we had a fun wall showcasing the inner workings of 5 experiences. ⁠

After a quick month of collaborating on a prototype, the student group from the UNE Innovation Center presented their vision of using an interactive mural that promotes and responds in real-time to student activity such as biking and walking. Our challenge was to design a prototype that illustrated the basic concept to a diverse audience and is robust enough to support future interactions via AR experiences or IoT sensors.
