I’m not sure what this page has become, but at some point I decided it needed CONTENT. But I’m not here for content, I’m here to share a creative journey—not just for you, but for me, too. This year, I’m very tired. Sometimes all I want to do is be horizontal and rest or dream or cry.

Yet I’ve also created a lot this year, I’ve written twelve creative piece (memoir-ish essays), started graduate school, toured the UK, played 3 festivals and recorded a new record, which I’ve also funded through donations to $9.5K (no, this isn’t enough to fund the record, yet it’s still a miracle, even though my inner voice can say, it’s no big deal). I set a goal of $20K and did it through my own site, rather than Kickstarter or the like. This made it both harder and easier, in different ways. Yet even with all this, it’s so easy to forget I’m an artist at all.

A friend recently said to me, “how could anyone forget that about you?” Yet I can, and I do all the time. One of my greatest fears is being perceived as uncreative. Who knows why? As if I’ve constantly trying to disprove the thing that’s never even been said. Perhaps it’s just the burning desire to inhabit creatively wholly/holy, as if that’s the only real way to become whole again. Or an evolution of self I’m still integrating.

I’m simplifying and redesigning and remembering my intention for this to be a sacred space, a quiet space, a space purely for the act of creative devotion.

I’m interested in creative devotion without the cost (literal / figurative). Creative devotion that is an opening, a nourishment, an invitation. Something that buoys life, but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy. I got into this work to help people, and also myself. Yet I’ve often questioned myself, this desire, this shouting into the void. I wanted to let you know I’m still here and I’m happy to be, to shine light wherever it needs to go.

It’s fall, I’m here. I’m sure you haven’t noticed my prolonged absence from this space but I sure have. This is just a sweet reminder to take a few moments for your creative spirit - it doesn’t have to be complicated - it can be a photograph, a string of words, half a poem, a voice note, a few chords or just a pattern or cluster of notes. It will feed your spirit, even if you’re stressed. Or you have no time. Especially if you’re stressed. And you have no time. Are you in a period of transition, change or growth? Or simply curious what this year has to offer you and how you can make the most of it? I’m opening some time for 45-min affordable eclipse transit readings for 2024, which cover the effects in your personal chart (plus other significant transits as time allows). We’ve just passed through two eclipse portals and there will be two more coming this fall. Typically eclipse effects begin 4-6 weeks before and last 4-6 weeks after the last eclipse, meaning their seasons are long and significant (it’s not just a single day or week). I’ve been studying astrology since 2020 with a professional astrologer, and when my plate isn’t filled with myriad of things, I give personal readings. I’ve been finding a thread back to astrology lately, and felt called to offer this. It was a long time before I felt connected to my vision as a musician, songwriter, artist and creative. I don’t mean to say it wasn’t in my blood or even that I wasn’t always doing it (I was) but that because (in part) of my environment and other pressures that surrounded my life, it took me a long time really name what I wanted and give myself permission to pursue it.
This still comes up in more subtle ways in and around my art. Weaving this life, and trusting this life is an art itself, a dance. Sometimes I feel sad or angey or tired that I have created a certain level of success outwardly (even though there are many successes I can count - more on that in another post).
But other times I’m grateful that I’m free to make this path look however I want it to. I don’t really have anyone to answer to but myself (and maybe my bank account). Choosing this reality for myself when I don’t have one million followers or even ten thousand takes exponential courage. It requires the risk to be the primary person to believe in myself.
