Today we’re celebrating the beauty, connection, and thoughtful design that keep our trails accessible to everyone. From building and restoring pathways to protecting the spaces we all love, GreenWorks is proud to help keep our community moving outdoors.

We loved hosting students from the University of Georgia’s College of Environment & Design at the GreenWorks studio! 📚🎓

It was a great morning sharing our work, expertise, and areas of specialization. Students enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the studio and a closer look at what we’re currently working on. Thank you for the thoughtful questions and for bringing such great energy to GreenWorks. We hope to see you out West again soon!

April is World Landscape Architecture Month!

Landscape architecture brings nature-based solutions to life, creating spaces for all ages and abilities while expanding access to high-quality outdoor environments. This April, we’re highlighting how thoughtful design transforms ideas into places that support health, resilience, and community.

We’re excited to share that GreenWorks’ Matt Piccone will be speaking at this year’s Greater & Greener Conference in Austin, TX, hosted by the City Parks Alliance.

Matt will present alongside PlanIt Geo in the session “Nature as Infrastructure,” exploring how parks, urban tree canopy, and natural systems are increasingly recognized as essential infrastructure for climate resilience, public health, and thriving communities. As a leader in integrating nature-based solutions into planning and design, Matt brings a systems-based perspective that connects ecology, community needs, and long-term resilience.

Flashback Friday to the Westmoreland Park Nature-Based Play Area!

GreenWorks partnered with on this pilot project to transform an outdated playground into an immersive, nature-based play environment rooted in community vision. Through a robust public engagement process, the design features unique play elements custom-made for the park that reflect that vision.

Working alongside environmental artist Adam Kuby, the team integrated sculptural elements that double as play features, blending art, ecology, and play. Sustainable strategies, from salvaged materials and native planting to water-wise design and stormwater management, are woven throughout.

Opened in 2014 and still “wildly” popular, the project received an ASLA Oregon Honor Award and remains a great example of how thoughtful, community-driven design can create lasting impact.
